Why did you want to get involved in Fried?
I have a great love for informing and helping others and I noticed there’s a lot of information lacking in Ireland on topics I think should be talked about more, especially with young people. Then obviously there’s my love for writing too so that’s kind of how it came about. I actually saw starting a magazine as a thing for the future, it was my boyfriend who suggested doing it now. I’m glad he did too because it’s been so fun!
What’s your biggest regret?
I really regret not seeing the Cranberries when Dolores was alive. I’m a Limerick woman too so that just adds to my disappointment.
Who’s your favourite TV show character?
Carrie Bradshaw... Haha, a little cliche but I just love that show so much. I love her narration and style of writing, I think I take a lot of influence from her in my own work. And that glam 90’s NYC life- Cosmo’s, Manolo’s and NYC- what’s not to love?
Have you got any weird fears?
My shower at home is downstairs so I get this really irrational fear when I’m at other people’s houses and their shower happens to be upstairs when I’m showering I feel like I’m gonna fall through the roof- it’s so weird lol.
What do you hope to achieve from Fried?
I guess mainly, I just hope the stories resonate with the people reading them. The politics story, in particular, is one I was very passionate about, I’d love if even just a couple of people took something from that. Even me, myself, I’ve learned a lot from this process so I’ll be able to take that with me in future projects.
Share one piece of advice you think everyone should live by?
Just do it (Nike’s been saying it long enough). But seriously whatever it is you’re thinking of, just do it. Even this magazine is a perfect example, I was going to wait years for the ‘right moment’ but there never is one. If you have a great idea, just commit to it. Decide you’re doing it and the rest will follow. If there’s a will, there’s a way, you’ll make it work.
