Today I’m taking a look at Juliet McGrath- a young animator at Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD).
Julie is actually the very lady who brought my “Controversgirl” vision to life. I had an idea in my head of how I wanted my logo to look and she took my ideas, ran with them and brought it to life!
Julie aged 21 made the move from Mayo to Limerick 3 years ago when she began her studies in Animation and Motion Design in LSAD.
Throughout her time here, Julie has undertaken a number of different projects which have tested both her drawing skills as well as putting animations into progress.
As of recently Julie has been working on a number of animations which I have included below:
The following is an excerpt taken from the zine entitled “Potluck” which Julie is currently working on with friend and peer, Neave Alouf.

The remaining two are taken from her contribution to the drawing awards sketchbook, a competition developed in LSAD to give young animators an

opportunity to showcase and be awarded for their work and efforts. The competitors must fill up an A5 sketchbook which demonstrates their progress and development throughout it. The winner receives €1,000 worth of art supplies. Julie reveals in order to create these unique illustrations, she first draws them freehand in a sketchbook and then follows up digitally creating scans of them.
If you think you would be interested in having Julie whip up some animations for you then don’t be shy and drop her a message on Instagram on her handle @julietmcgrath.
